How to file for divorce

1. Divorce actions are to be filed at the Prothonotary's Office located at the Carbon County Courthouse, 4 Broadway, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.

2. Current filing fees are $186.25 where the complaint seeks divorce only. For any additional claims which are permitted to be joined with an action for divorce or annulment under the Divorce Code, each such claim should be set forth in a separate count for which an additional fee of $85.60 will be charged.

If you are also filing a claim for custody in the the divorce complaint, the filing fee is an additional $94.85 plus $150.00 for the custody master.

The appointment of a Master in Divorce requires the deposit of $500.00 to begin these proceedings. Additional sums may also be required. These filing fees
