The Court Computer Department manages and maintains an integrated network of computer resources which provide data and information processing services to all court and court related offices.
Responsibilities for this office include administration and support of local and wide area computer networks and networking equipment, configuration of computer servers and desktop computers, computer operations and security, virtual private networks, computer programming, website maintenance, video conferencing setup, imaging and technical support.
This office provides technical support services to all court and court related offices. Services include support of the network infrastructure, computer servers, desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, several software applications, and video conferencing assistance to the Courts, Carbon County Prison and the local police departments. Helpdesk support is provided via desktop, telephone and remote access. Other services include training, printing and scanning.
During this reporting period, technical support calls averaged 2,380 calls per year and programming requests averaged 68 per year. A state-of-the-art case information and case management system was created in 1984 for all civil, orphans’ court, jury selection and court scheduling. This unique and fully integrated system allows the sharing of one database for the input and dissemination of information to all Court employees and makes detailed case information available via the public access section of the Court website.
The Court website features local civil, orphans’ court and criminal rules, administrative orders, daily, weekly and monthly Court calendars, downloadable forms, employment openings and information on all Court and Court-related Offices. The website can be found at www.carboncourts.com.
In addition to providing technical support, this office is responsible for a security database providing controlled door access to the Courthouse, Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) access for criminal justice agencies utilizing virtual private networks, Juvenile Case Management System (JCMS), PA Sexual Offender Tools (PASORT) and local support to the statewide Common Pleas Criminal Court Case Management System (CPCMS) used for the processing of all criminal and juvenile matters.
