Welcome to the Jury Information Website of the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas! From this site, you can answer the qualifications questionnaire; verify and update your contact information; request deferral to a new date or excusal; and find answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about jury service. Above you will find an informative jury service video which explains the basics of jury selection, trials, and the many staff members who contribute to a successful trial by jury.

Trial by jury is one of the most fundamental rights of United States citizens. To preserve this right, the Court conducts civil and criminal trials throughout the year. In any given year, the Court randomly selects nearly 4500 Carbon County residents who receive a jury summons like you received. After you fully complete and submit your qualification questionnaire, the Jury Office will review your information and notify you in writing if you are either qualified to serve; deferred to a new date upon your request; or excused.

If you are required to report for jury selection, you will serve for that day only unless you are selected for a trial. If you are selected for a trial, most jury trials last from 1-3 days. The presiding judge will further inform you about the expected length of the trial.

We thank you in advance for continuing with your juror qualification process. You are one in a long line of residents since 1843 who have participated in Carbon County’s jury trial process. Jurors consistently rate the experience very positively if they have served on a trial jury. Please know that the Court understands jury service can be a considerable sacrifice and we take every step to minimize the impact on your busy life.

Feel free to contact the Jury Office at 570-325-4759 if you have further questions.
